Core Expertise
Sedimentology
We offer Sedimentological analyses in the form of single well or multi-well studies, often combining with biostratigraphic work to provide detailed interpretations of depositional environments, facies and sedimentary regimes, evaluations of diagenetic processes and history, and reservoir characterization and modelling.
Our range of Sedimentological Services aid clients in providing solutions to most exploration problems. Our experience covers
- Lithological description
- Grain size analysis
- Calcimetry
- Heavy Mineral Analysis
- Petrography
- X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and
- Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
The listed sedimentological analysis techniques (SEM, XRD, Petrography, Grain size analysis and Heavy mineral analysis) are used for compositional, textural and provenance studies. The mineralogical and textural properties of a reservoir rock influences the reservoir quality (particularly, porosity and permeability) of the rock, which in turn influences petroleum recoverability and producibility of the reservoir.
These studies are often carry out by the oil companies in order to get an idea of what the Reservoir properties are like.
